Technology Evolution
Technology has always been one of the most used sources humankind has to offer.Technology offers users multiple advantages such as immediate access to a incredible wide source of information. Yet, technology can’t be reliable as we thought. Not just because of the incredible amount of inaccurate information and unreliable resources the internet contains, It’s how technology revolutionized society. Which is why I’m not as dependent to technology as to most people. “ Our ability to interpret text, to make the rich mental connections that form when we read deeply without distraction” (Wu 2) We are living in a generation where it’s difficult to mentally absorb what we read and formed a habit to “skim read”. We live in a generation when once research required a matter of days to acquire. As of now it can be done in a matter of minutes due to society's continuing growing advanced technology. In a traditional sense, browsing through titles, skimming through texts has become habit-forming for society that this generation has become “mentally lazy”. It seems like nowadays society doesn’t absorb what we read and get easily distracted. However, even though technology can have its advantages such as immediate access. “ The advantages to having immediate access to such an incredible rich store of information are many” Yet, this doesn’t mean what we read on the internet is simply the truth. There of various amounts of inaccurate sources, articles, and information on the internet that it’s difficult to determine what’s accurate and what’s not (Carr 1).
Technology is mentally and physically making us lazy. With the power of advanced technology, we do less work than we have to before technology became so advanced. Research required days in the library to do. As of now it can be done within a couple of minutes. Most of us used house phones, and now we have cell phones and don’t have to wait to get home to check if we received missed calls. In the early 2000’s Microsoft, and Google were getting popular. As of now, Microsoft and Google have become the most reliable resources for education.
Technology has improved our lives for years. Many of it’s greatest invention have become one of our most reliable sources yet. The first wheel turned into the first car that help us transport easily and faster. When the first computer was created, many softwares were created to help do research, look up information, etc. However, throughout the years, we have become so dependent on technology that we have become lazy.
In this generation many young kids now communicate through Facebook, Instagram, etc. It’s like any of us don’t know how to communicate anymore. You see more people on their phone, than a book in their hands. Technology has and always will be a part of society and will continue to grow. Yet, most of us don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing since a various amount of people are already mentally and physically lazy due to the advanced technology.
Technology can be beneficial , yet mostly has disadvantages. It makes this generation more dependent than ever before. Society needs to learn that we can’t always rely on technology. How are our future children going to grow? Our children will grow into a generation in taking selfies, interacting only through social media, and not leaving the house because owe have HD flat screen televisions. The existence of technology is extremely beneficial and don’t mind if it continues to grow. Yet, we as a generation need to learn not to rely on it as much and learn how to become more independent.

  1. Your point is clear and precise. There was a good use of quotes to back up your own ideas. However, you stated, " Yet, we as a generation need to learn not to rely on it as much and learn how to become more independent"? Do you want people to become cavemen? They were independent from technology and roamed around doing what they freely choose without technology. But we all know how long they lasted. Overall, your point was obvious and had backed it up with quotes from articles.

  3. Your argument had really good points in it. Where you state that " Our children will grow into a generation in taking selfies, interacting only through social media, and not leaving the house because owe have HD flat screen televisions." Is really accurate because one time when I was in line at the store I over heard a woman telling another woman that her 4 year old son knows how to take selfies like what? Also, you now see children as young as 3 or so having an ipad/tablet instead of a coloring book.

    1. It is true that society has become way too dependent on technology. People have definitely become lazy as they prefer to just sit down and browse the internet all day rather then doing something active. We have turned into anti-social people who depend on the relationships with our devices. Including that technology has also benefited society was effective too, it eliminated the bias that this argument could of had. And one can definitely agree that technology might have more disadvantages than advantages.

  6. Your argument makes sense, in some cases it does makes us lazy and at times unrealiable. However, one can argue on your position that while it can make us lazy it can also make us more efficient. You mostly posted about todays current popular situations, where one now takes selfies and the use of social media. However, you fail to state that because of technology it has improve peoples lives tremendously. Technology is not all about the younger generation, its about everyone as a whole, especially for the elderly. Without technology and all the resources it has created, we as a society may not be able to live long or have better living conditions without technology.

  7. You need to introduce your quotes as opposed to just dropping them in mid sentence because it makes the argument seem choppy overall. Your introduction seemed more like the body of the argument but did however, have a lot of great points. The rest seemed kind of repetitive in a sense that you were stating things but they weren't being backed up with evidence making it seem as if you were making claims but you weren't being defended by any credible source.

  8. Technology is being used in everyday life in today's society. Technology is not the only reason why people are becoming lazy. Technology is simply there to guide people and help make people's lives more efficient. Technology is a necessity for everything we do in life unfortunately, but it has a positive outcome when using these advance technologies such as new discoveries.

  9. The idea that technology is making us lazy and how we expect everything to happen as fast as possible is so true. When researching anything, we click on the first thing that is available. If something is need from the grocery store down the block, we hop in our car to get there. If we wanna see how someone is doing, comments are left on Facebook pages or emails. Its all about convenience, when in fact technology is doing the exact opposite of that. In the long run, there is nothing convenient about the reliability that we have on technology.

  10. Technology has hindered our prossesing skills. We want everything now and dont want to wait for it. You presented this argument throughout the essay with quotes with two different authors thatt reinforced your idea. However, it is recomended to give a responce to your counter argument so that your position could be trenghten.

  11. I agree, " Soceity needs to lean that we can't depend on technology," New technology has made Americans lazy and stupid. It affects how we comprehend and understand reading a book. How can Americans evolve in the world if we can't read? Technology have already affected everyone in a negative way, and the generations in the future will be left behind and depend on others to do things for them because how easy it is and will become to acess infomation. In the elementary school the teachers are now replacing books with ipads which stops them from learning and concentrating on information. How are the children of the next generation going to take care of themselves ? Techonology has affected jobs being created here, and our country is finding defferent jobs opprottunity in other countries. If we don't stop technology will destroy America.

  12. Learnig has become an inistrument of technology. Schools have adapted themselves to the new era and leaving books aside. Like this posst suggests, research can be done in amatter of seconds using search engines and not library books. It is very upseting to see how elementarys schools in local areas give students laptops and transfer fiels and books online. This takes away the humanity in teaching having a physical person leacture and a book to follow. America, adn the world itself, is in the midst of destruction of technology continues to invade every aspect of peoels' lives.

  13. Try to expand more on the topic with Microsoft and Google. You make a good point on how technology is beneficial, but also a disadvantage to the world. Try not to use the words "etc" or thing". It's true that society has become lazier over the use of technology. Try not to mention yourself in the essay. Overall, you make some very good points on how technology is bad. You just need to expand on some of those topic such as microsoft and google.

  14. To find reliable information is better to look for pages that instead of ending with ".com" end with ".gov or .org". Also libraries have databases were you can find any topic that you are looking for. Technology is now part of our society, I'm agree that we need to be careful when looking for information, and besides that, is a excellent source to be up to date in what is happening around us and around the United States.
